Happy Birthday Jesus!
These next four are currently in the secretary in the living room behind glass. Until my three year old boy can be trusted with fragile items sitting about (which will probably be never) that is where they will stay.
This one probably doesn't count as a nativity per se, but I liked the youthful look of Joseph and Mary.
This next one looks just like the one we had when I was a child. Only we had a few more pieces, and I think Mary's outer wrap was purple. Never ask a ten year old girl to repaint your nativity set.
My sister (I hope) has the set my parent's had. Although if you ask her she'll probably say that she gave it to me years ago. Or that she has fond memories of setting up the nativity and her story will strangely resemble mine. Just don't ask her about the "ghetto blaster" we got for Christmas one year.
Just realizing that on this next one I think I have the shepherd boy standing over the baby Jesus and Joseph is standing off to the right. Sheesh, it's hard to tell some of these pieces apart. They should put names on the bottom or something.
Again, probably doesn't count as a nativity but who doesn't like those Willow Tree sculptures? I just love how endearing this is. I'm pretty sure unlike what is typically depicted that Joseph was not standing stoically to the side.
And last but not least my Waterford handblown glass ornaments, which never actually make it to the tree as ornaments. They reside on my mantle with all the other fragile ornaments away from little hands.
I hope that as my son grows older he'll understand that Christmas isn't all about Santa, reindeer, and presents. But know that it is about one gift, a very special gift that came in the form of a baby. A gift for everyone.
Luke 2:8-14 NIV
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.""
Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus!

Drumroll please...
I took this photo last year about this time and have always wanted to do something with it. So I thought I'd dig it up and play around with some editing. Let me know what you think.

Do, Ri, Meme
So here are my seven random things you may or may not know about me. Since my mom is just about the only person who regulalry reads my blog this might be kind of boring for her. The rest of you, read on!
- I have bungee jumped thirteen times and would do it again in a heartbeat.
- I have met Harry Belafonte.
- One of my top favorite books is Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher; the second is Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier.
- I just had to look up the correct spelling of DuMaurier.
- I cannot sleep with my socks on.
- I have more fun at Chuck E. Cheese than my son does.
- I love the smell of cilantro.
I'm having trouble coming up with 7 people, but I have tagged the following: Shama-lama Mama, my mom at On The Road Again, another Cindy at Still His Girl, and MooBeeMa.
Here are the rules to the Meme, should you want to participate:
*Link to the person(s) who tagged you and post the rules on your blog
*Share 7 random/weird things about yourself
*Tag 7 people at the end of your post and include links to their sites
*Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog
There you have it, things about me you never really wanted to know but now do. I have successfully completed my first meme! Look at me go!

Bad, bad blogger...
Quick update. I received my two glorious prizes in the mail! I modeled my new flip flops for my three year old son and for some reason he thinks the green pair are for him. I've tried to convince him that glittery flip flops were not in for little boys, but he didn't believe me. I've had to hide them. I've already started the book, I think I'm on page 12? Did I mention my parents were in town? No time for reading free books now.
For those of you who are on the edge of your seats, I do believe that I am closer to figuring out my blog purpose. [Insert collective sigh of relief here] Never fear my fellow bloggers, all will be revealed in time.

I'm A Winner!
My first prize came from Shama-lama Mama in which I won this really cute tote and a bunch of flip flops to fill it. Thanks Karen!
My second prize came from MooBeeMa where I won my very own copy of this book called The Shack by William P. Young. It looks like one of those great cuddle up by the fire type of books. Can't wait to read it! Thanks MooBee!
It's been a lot of fun checking out everybody's blog and entering all the contests. Be on the lookout for another fantastic giveaway hosted by Rocks In My Dryer in January or February. Now I'm off to think of something really spectacular to give away so that I can have as much fun as everyone else!

Take Two
Back to the header... yes, I know there is a giant blank space there. Did I forget to add something? Did I get tired and go to bed? Did my photoshop crash? No... I just can't think of anything to put in there. Which brings me to the question, what is the purpose of this blog? Ok, so it needs to be about me... it needs to be somewhat entertaining... it needs to glorify God... but what else?
Having clicked on about 600 blogs lately to enter into all those sensational giveaways you would think I would have been inspired to come up with my own idea. Crafty blogs - ok, I could maybe do that when I dig my sewing machine out from a pile of junk. Christian themed blogs - I am a Christian but I would prefer to leave the devotionals and prayer pumping to those who do it well. Family blogs - that's always a good choice, I love my family. And there's no doubt that they will be included in some fashion, but I'll be sharing most of those daily mundane type entries for our family website. Sorry, if you are into "Johnny lost his first tooth" or "Mary ate her first solid food" type readings let me know and I'll share that site with you. So here is the big question: What should my blog purpose be? If you have an idea or suggestion, feel free to share. Maybe tell me what your blog is about, or maybe the idea you rejected, I'm not picky!
